I graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science, double major in Chemistry and Mathematics. My studies included biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, physics and software.
From 1984 to 1988, I worked in the Isotopes Department of Aldrich Chemical Company, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as an organic chemist. I was responsible for development, scale-up, and production of deuterated solvents and compounds.
I earned a J.D. in law from Marquette University Law School, cum laude, in 1991.
I was admitted to the District of Columbia and Wisconsin state bars in 1991.
I have been registered to practice as a Patent Attorney before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since 1991.
I was a partner in the firm of Manelli Selter PLLC from 1997 until 2019, where I practiced as a Patent Attorney.
Previous to joining Manelli Selter PLLC, I worked as a patent attorney in the firm of Cushman, Darby & Cushman, L.L.P. (now Pillsbury Winthrop, LLP.) in the District of Columbia from 1991 through 1997.
I have successfully prepared and prosecuted over five hundred patent applications to fruition as a U.S. Patent in a variety of technologies including automobile parts, biology, business methods, chemistry, jet engine parts, lumber mills, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and numerous other types of devices and processes.
I have successfully briefed and argued numerous appeals before the U.S. Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences.
I have successfully prepared and prosecuted numerous requests for reexamination applications and reissue applications before the U.S. Patent Office.
I have litigation experience in the Federal District Courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission, and I have been retained as an expert in patent law in patent litigation.
I have experience in preparing validity and infringement opinions, and providing consultation to companies regarding a broad range of worldwide intellectual property protection and strategy issues.
I have longstanding relationships with patent arttorneys and agents worldwide for handling my foreign patent filings. I also handle the U.S. patent filings for the foreign patent attorneys and agents.
